Authorities in the Ahl Tifnoute commune of Taroudant Province announced Monday the recovery of the bodies of five workers killed in a tunnel explosion at the Mokhtar Soussi Dam.
Efforts to retrieve the victims lasted several hours and involved local officials from Ouzioua, the Royal Gendarmerie, Civil Protection teams, Auxiliary Forces, a rescue unit from the Zakandar mine, and volunteers, according to a statement posted on the commune’s official Facebook page.
Provincial Governor Mabrouk Thabit and other officials visited the scene to monitor the recovery operation, the statement said.
“All five bodies have been successfully recovered,” it confirmed.
The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
