Security authorities in Casablanca have arrested French rapper Walid Georgey known by his stage name Maes, who has Moroccan roots and resides in the United Arab Emirates.
His arrest follows an international arrest warrant issued by French judicial authorities, according to Le Nouvel Observateur.
Maïss, 30, was sentenced to 10 months in prison and fined €10,000 in June 2024 for a case of collective violence dating back to 2018. A verdict hearing was initially set for October 2023, but Maes failed to appear in court, prompting French authorities to issue the arrest warrant.
He missed another hearing in June 2024, but no new arrest warrant was issued after this second absence.
