The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Future Skills Index, which evaluates educational systems based on their ability to prepare students for the global job market shaped by technological and digital advancements, places Morocco in a weak position, although ahead of its regional neighbors.
Morocco ranked 78th globally with a score of 30.5, below the global average of 50. Egypt and South Africa rank higher at 46th and 58th, respectively, while Algeria trails at 80th.
The U.S. leads the index with 97.6 points.
This index assesses the capacity of countries’ education systems, particularly higher education, to equip students with skills for a rapidly changing job market. QS analyzes universities across 81 countries using 17 indicators grouped into four main categories: skills adequacy (workforce adaptability, lifelong learning), academic preparation (access to learning technologies, technical education, university rankings), future employment (digital skills, AI tools, green tech workforce), and economic transformation (digital transformation, ecological transition, tech infrastructure).
