Algerian authorities released 36 young Moroccans on Thursday evening through the “Zouj Beghal” border crossing.

The Moroccan Association for Assisting Migrants in Difficult Situations reported that these individuals had completed their sentences in Algerian prisons, serving various terms and over five months of administrative detention.

The association’s statement, received by Hespress, highlighted that those released come from several Moroccan cities, including Fes, Oujda, Berkane, Taza, Meknes, Salé, Tétouan, Tangier, and others.

It also emphasized the ongoing efforts to track the cases of missing, imprisoned, and detained migrants, noting that the total number of such cases in Algeria exceeds 483, with additional cases in Tunisia and Libya.

Through its participation in international meetings and forums, most recently the International Conference on Missing Persons and Forced Disappearances held in Geneva on January 15-16, the association is working to facilitate the repatriation of remaining migrants and uncover the fate of the missing, including citizens from Algerian families.
