The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Tuesday the postponement of the 2024 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) to August 2025.
Originally scheduled to take place from February 1 to 28, 2024, in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, the tournament will now be held at a later date.
CAF expressed satisfaction with the significant progress made in the host countries, particularly in the construction and modernization of stadiums, training facilities, hotels, hospitals, and other essential infrastructure required for the successful organization of the tournament.
However, CAF also noted that technical and infrastructure experts, including those based in the host countries, require additional time to ensure that all facilities meet the necessary standards for the successful hosting of the CHAN.
CAF confirmed that the draw for the tournament will take place this Wednesday in Nairobi at 8:00 PM local time. Among the top teams in the draw are reigning champions Senegal and two-time winners Morocco. The exact start date for the CAF TotalEnergies Africa Nations Championship 2024, now scheduled for August 2025, will be announced by CAF “in due course,” concluded the statement.
