Early Friday morning, Morocco’s Royal Gendarmerie in Sidi Ifni successfully thwarted an illegal migration attempt from the Asmira Beach area, located in the Isbouya jurisdiction, toward the Spanish islands.
According to sources cited by Hespress AR, the operation was meticulously planned and executed under the direct supervision of the Commander of the Sidi Ifni Gendarmerie Brigade.
The effort was aided by the deployment of a surveillance drone, which provided precise intelligence for monitoring the coastline.
The intervention led to the arrest of 36 Moroccan nationals, including one woman, who were attempting to migrate clandestinely.
Authorities also apprehended two organizers of the operation and confiscated a four-wheel-drive vehicle, a jet engine, an inflatable boat, and approximately 300 liters of gasoline stored in 25-liter barrels.
This operation is part of the broader efforts by the Royal Gendarmerie in Sidi Ifni to combat illegal activities, particularly human trafficking and clandestine migration networks. The authorities reaffirm their commitment to dismantling such operations and enhancing security along Morocco’s coasts.
