PJD's Bouanou condemns Israeli delegation’s participation at Socialist International in Rabat

head of the Justice and Development Party parliamentary group, Abdullah Bouanou condemned the participation of an Israeli delegation at the meeting of Socialist International in Rabat, calling it “an unacceptable provocation” and demanding clarification.

A Mexican media outlet reported on the visit of relatives of some Israeli prisoners to Rabat, coinciding with the Socialist International conference held on Friday and Saturday.

The families were in Morocco to rally international support for the release of hostages.

According to the same sources, Alejandro Moreno, leader of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and Vice President of the Socialist International, met with the relatives of the Israeli prisoners during the conference. He urged international solidarity and called for efforts to bring the prisoners back home.

In his remarks at the weekly meeting of the PJD parliamentary group on Monday in Rabat, Bouanou expressed his surprise that the delegation was allowed to attend while “genocide and ethnic cleansing continue in Gaza at the hands of the Israeli army.”

He also noted the Israeli Knesset’s consensus against recognizing a Palestinian state. Bouanou questioned, “How could a Moroccan political group invite an Israeli delegation without any sense of shame, especially amid reports that the families of Israeli prisoners were present? It’s as if the ongoing violence and starvation in Gaza are of no concern to us as Moroccans.”

He further criticized the decision, pointing out that if the event had been held in Spain, participation by an Israeli delegation would not have been permitted due to the Spanish government’s stance on the Palestinian issue.
