FIFA officially approved Wednesday the joint bid from Morocco, Spain, and Portugal to host the 2030 World Cup during its extraordinary congress, granting approval to the bid named “Yalla Vamos.”
At the congress, FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed that the 2030 World Cup would be awarded to the Morocco-Spain-Portugal trio, while Saudi Arabia was granted the 2034 World Cup.
“We confirm the eligibility of the joint bid between Morocco, Spain, and Portugal,” stated Infantino.
This victory marks the culmination of Morocco’s persistent efforts to host the World Cup, which began with its first bid in 1994, followed by subsequent attempts in 1998, 2006, 2010, and 2026. With each effort, Morocco grew stronger, refining its vision and determination to secure the prestigious event.
As part of the bid, six Moroccan stadiums have been selected to host matches: Hassan II Stadium (Casablanca), Moulay Abdallah Stadium (Rabat), Grand Stadium of Tangier, Grand Stadium of Agadir, Fes Sports Complex, and Grand Stadium of Marrakech.
Hassan II Stadium, alongside Madrid’s iconic Santiago Bernabéu and Barcelona’s Camp Nou, received the highest rating (4.3/5) and is in contention to host the opening and closing matches.
