The Spanish Ministry of the Interior has committed to providing material assistance to Morocco to enhance surveillance systems aimed at combating illegal immigration and organized crime, Spanish media reported.

The Spanish Ministry of the Interior is set to supply the Moroccan authorities with nearly 20 video surveillance systems, valued at €4.12 million.

This decision, reportedly made in August by Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska, was followed by the signing of a purchase contract on October 20 by Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez.

The move is intended to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in controlling migration flows and fighting organized crime and human trafficking.

Grande-Marlaska, quoted by the Spanish press, stated that the surveillance cameras provided to Morocco are part of an effort to bolster the intervention capabilities of local authorities.
