A 22-year-old Chinese man, Liu Chuanyi, spent three days trapped in a 12-meter-deep abandoned well in a remote Thai forest, with his cries for help mistaken for ghostly sounds by locals.

The incident occurred near the Thai-Myanmar border with villagers reporting eerie noises from the forest, but no one investigated, believing them to be supernatural.

Liu, who had fallen into the well while lost in the forest, shouted for help every hour to conserve his energy.

On Sunday evening, a passing patrol heard the cries but couldn’t pinpoint the source. The chief officer then shouted, and Liu responded, prompting the officers to search the area.

They eventually traced the sound to a dry well and found Liu in a weakened state, suffering from a fractured wrist, a concussion, and multiple bruises.

Authorities rescued him in 30 minutes and took him to a hospital for treatment
