Morocco’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection has dismissed recent rumors and false claims about the safety of vaccines used in the country, following the circulation of audio recordings questioning their efficacy.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry reaffirmed that the vaccines provided to children in Morocco are both safe and effective, emphasizing their role in protecting public health against diseases. The Ministry rejected the claims, asserting that they were baseless and aimed at spreading panic.
The current vaccination campaign, which started on October 28, 2024, is being carried out in collaboration with several government departments, including the Ministries of National Education, Interior, and Religious Affairs. It focuses on catching up with vaccination schedules for children, particularly against infectious diseases such as polio, diphtheria, whooping cough, measles, and tetanus.
The Ministry stressed that all vaccines administered to children in Morocco meet stringent international safety and quality standards, with no complications reported in decades of use.
Officials believe that the recent misinformation is intended to undermine public confidence in the vaccination program. “These false claims aim to intimidate and spread fear among the public about the effectiveness and safety of approved vaccines,” the statement read.
The Ministry called on parents, guardians, and all citizens to support the vaccination campaign, which aims to strengthen immunity, reduce the spread of diseases, and help protect public health.
