Morocco’s strategic investments in various sectors are playing a crucial role in enhancing its global influence, says a recent study published in the Allbahit Journal for Scientific Research and Studies.

The study said that Morocco is strategically investing in key areas such as education, healthcare, and strengthening ties with its diaspora. The country is focusing on promoting its culture abroad and disseminating the teachings of the Maliki school of Sunni Islam.

These strategies, the research argues, are instrumental in bolstering Morocco’s regional and international influence, enabling it to cultivate enduring relationships with the global community.

“In Morocco’s case, civilization can be considered a powerful tool for attraction and influence in foreign policy,” the study asserts.

“Thanks to its rich and diverse cultural heritage, Morocco has the capacity to communicate with people from all over the world. Through cultural diplomacy, Morocco can use elements such as art, education, history, and religion to enhance the understanding of its civilization and its positive impact on the global stage.”

The research noted Morocco’s proactive approach in exporting its cultural model and promoting its historical and civilizational values, often intertwined with economic and political dimensions.

“Countries are increasingly incorporating cultural power into their foreign strategies to strengthen their soft power and ensure the sustainability of their influence on the international stage,” the study said.

The study explained that economic investments in the African continent have also strengthened Morocco’s trade and economic ties. Such investments serve as powerful tools to enhance Morocco’s influence and deepen economic cooperation with African countries.

The study also introduces the concept of “preventive diplomacy” in the Moroccan context, suggesting that it has been key in resolving several conflicts and seeking peaceful and lasting solutions to political crises in Africa.

Rabat’s consistent involvement in UN-led peacekeeping efforts is cited as evidence of this commitment.

The study said that Morocco has emerged as one of the largest investors in Africa, particularly in the banking, telecommunications, real estate, and chemical industries.

As a result, trade between Morocco and African countries has increased by an average of 9.5% between 2000 and 2019.
