The National Committee of Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Dental Students has announced the continuation of their boycott of exams and plans for a national strike on Saturday, under the banner “Morocco’s youth and cadres for a better human rights and health situation.”
In a statement, the committee condemned what it described as “moral and physical attacks” against students, doctors, and their families, expressing that recent events have left a profound impact on the nation’s youth. They reiterated their trust in the judiciary to seek justice and rectify the injustices they face.
The committee criticized the unilateral rescheduling of exams, labeling it an attempt to undermine ongoing mediation efforts with the government. They called on the “wise of the nation” to intervene urgently to resolve the longstanding crisis and restore students to their training programs.
Concerned about the violent events during a recent peaceful sit-in in Rabat, which saw heavy security intervention, the committee reported numerous injuries among students and their families. They noted that similar crackdowns occurred in Tangier, Casablanca, Marrakech, and Agadir, further suppressing their peaceful protests.
The student representatives emphasized that ongoing judicial actions against many students signal a troubling escalation in the history of peaceful student advocacy, particularly during this prolonged crisis. They assert that their demands are met with increasing repression, undermining the dignity of future medical professionals.
