According to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Projections (DSFP) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Morocco achieved a record 10 million tourists by the end of July 2024, marking a 15% increase from the same period last year.
The DSFP reported that July alone saw 2.6 million tourists, a 20% rise compared to the previous year. For the first seven months of 2024, the number of tourists reached 10 million, setting a new record and reflecting a 15% increase.
The volume of overnight stays in classified accommodation establishments also saw a significant rise, up 8.4% to 12.7 million stays by the end of June 2024. The DSFP noted a particularly notable increase of 13.1% in overnight stays during the second quarter of 2024, reaching 7.2 million.
Tourism receipts grew by 9.4% in the second quarter of 2024, improving from a 4.2% decline in the first quarter and reflecting a 69.2% increase from the previous year. This trend indicates a strong recovery and growth in Morocco’s tourism sector.
