Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has expressed his desire to clinch the gold medal with Morocco at the Paris 2024 Olympics, a dream fueled by his team’s impressive 4-0 quarter-final victory over the United States, AFP reported.

Hakimi contributed to the decisive win with a goal, while Soufiane Rahimi, Ilyas Akhomach, and Mehdi Maouhoub also found the net, propelling  Morocco into the semi-finals for the first time in Olympic history.

“Winning gold with the Moroccan national team in this stadium is my dream,” Hakimi told AFP. “Reaching the semi-finals and scoring a goal on home soil is historic.”

The defender emphasized his team-first mentality: “I wasn’t focused on scoring. My priority was helping Morocco win and reach the semi-finals.”

goal scorer Ilias Akhomach dedicated his goal to his parents and expressed the team’s ambition to progress as far as possible in the tournament.

Morocco’s goalkeeper, Munir Mohamedi, echoed the team’s confidence, asserting their ability to win gold and praised the team’s preparation and the unwavering support of Moroccan fans.

Despite logistical challenges in Paris, the team remains determined to conquer the Olympic title.
