A spokesperson for Microsoft’s Morocco operations told Hespress English that a subset of customers in Morocco were affected by massive global IT outage on Friday.
“We are aware of issue affecting a subset of customers. We acknowledge the impact this can have on customers, and we are working to restore services for those still experiencing disruptions as quickly as possible,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
They did not provide additional details about the impacted sectors.
A critical bug in CrowdStrike’s security software is causing the widespread system crashes, and while a fix is available, it requires a time-consuming manual restart process that could leave businesses disrupted for days, IT specialists say.
In an interview with NBC News, CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz confirmed that the software bug in their update caused the issue impacting Microsoft systems.
Kurtz acknowledged the recovery process might take time for some systems. “There may be delays for systems unable to automatically recover,” he said. “Our top priority is ensuring a complete restoration for every customer.”
Users may encounter issues with:
- Power BI: Read-only mode. You can view existing reports, but creating or editing reports might be unavailable.
- Microsoft Fabric: Read-only mode. Similar to Power BI, functionalities may be limited.
- Microsoft Teams: Presence information, group chats, and user registration might be unavailable.
Additionally, Microsoft 365 administrators may experience intermittent access issues within the admin center, which could potentially cause delays in managing user accounts or settings.
