The Kingdom of Morocco’s Atlantic Vision is a global political project to which Morocco contributes with conviction, support and abnegation through a sequenced and fundamentally humanistic strategy, Morocco’s Ambassador to the United States, Youssef Amrani, said on Friday in Dakhla, highlighting the strategic convergence between Atlantic Africa and the Kingdom’s vision for an integrated, inclusive and prosperous continent.

“Atlantic Africa is not only a geographical aspect,” the Ambassador underlined during a high-level panel at the 7th edition of the “Morocco Today Forum” (MTF), held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

The vision of HM King Mohammed VI represents an unprecedented drive in transforming Atlantic Africa, Amrani noted, adding that this vision is founded on four essential pillars: connectivity, cooperation, economic integration and citizen prosperity.

“Morocco has a strong Atlantic vocation,” he stressed, adding that the Kingdom is structurally committed to creating physical, economic and social bonds to promote human development and African emergence.

Among the key prospects, the diplomat mentioned the Royal Initiative for the Sahel countries, aimed at promoting access to the Atlantic Ocean, noting that this Initiative aims to stimulate trade, generate investment and create jobs. “It’s not just a question of security, but of development, integration and paradigm shifts,” he added.

Concrete projects such as the Dakhla Port and the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline reflect this Vision and provide tangible content to the integration strategies operating in the region, he added, noting that “these megaprojects create wealth and strengthen the trust of citizens in their institutions.”

The Ambassador also reiterated the importance of establishing efficient corridors, stressing that “the Atlantic network is essential for inclusive and sustainable growth.”

In this vein, he emphasized the need for diversified partnerships, stating that “we are acting in concert with our African, European and American partners.”

Morocco actively participates in initiatives such as the Partnership for Atlantic Cooperation launched by Washington, in addition to its unwavering commitment to South-South cooperation and successful, efficient partnerships in various working environments, including political dialogue with NATO, he recalled.

Amrani also emphasized the importance of human capital and infrastructure, noting that “the Atlantic is simultaneously a solution and a challenge.”

Projected population growth and increased commercial traffic offer significant opportunities for visionary investment and “Morocco is seizing these opportunities and acting resolutely in the collective interest, making wherever it can a strong contribution, a sustained interest and unfailing solidarity that promote a new geopolitical narrative in the region,” he noted.

The Ambassador added that “Morocco is not resigned to Atlantic inertia,” and that “we are pooling our efforts to support the Atlantic transformation, by listening, consulting and sharing with all our partners for a sustainable and inclusive development that generates progress and political ownership at all levels.”
