Morocco’s Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication is prioritizing revitalizing youth centers and expanding program offerings after 146 centers were closed in 2021.
By 2024, that number has significantly decreased to 75 out of 762 centers.
The Ministry aims to reopen all closed centers by 2025 through partnerships with local authorities and civil society organizations.
Reopening centers in rural areas, which account for 43% of the closures, will be a particular focus.
Beyond reopening centers, the Ministry is expanding activity options for young people, including existing activities encompassing a range of creative and cultural pursuits, including theater, music, visual arts, cinema, and reading. A new initiative is the creation of 200 electronic game clubs by the end of 2024.
This aligns with a partnership agreement between the Royal Moroccan Federation of Electronic Games and the Ministry.
The Ministry is also committed to youth development through training programs. These programs cover various areas such as skills development, entrepreneurship, and personal growth. Partnerships with experts and training institutions strengthen the quality of these programs.
The Ministry has launched a comprehensive program to renovate and equip reception centers to improve the overall youth center experience, to enhance service quality and create a more attractive internal and external environment. Additionally, the “Youth Pass” has been introduced to simplify access to these services for young people.
