Authorities in Ksar El-Kebir discovered on Wednesday morning, body of a newborn baby discarded in a trash bin near a building in the Dar Al-Dukhan neighborhood. The bin was located close to the Ashraf Hakimi Municipal Stadium.
Sources revealed that the infant’s body still had a portion of the umbilical cord attached, suggesting the baby was born very recently before being abandoned.
Police and forensic teams were immediately dispatched to the scene after receiving a tip from a local official around 12:30 PM. The baby’s body was then transferred to the morgue at the Qsar El-Kebir City Hospital.
The authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the baby’s death and the identity of the mother.
