Morocco ranked among the top five international destinations that Spanish travelers feel most secure visiting, according to Intermundial’s “Key Trends in Travel Insurance for Summer 2024” report.

Besides Morocco, Spanish travelers are proactive in securing travel insurance for their trips to Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Italy.

Intermundial’s study reveals that while more people buy insurance earlier each year, many still wait until just before their trip.

The report mentioned that 50% buy insurance in the same month as their departure, and 24% do so the month before.

It revealed that people buy insurance 30 days before their trip, but this varies depending on the destination. In Morocco, planning is much more immediate, with insurance often purchased just 13 days before departure.

Conversely, in Japan, bookings are made 53 days in advance, indicating a longer planning time.

The same source said that securing travel insurance for their flights to these five destinations further highlights Spanish tourists’ confidence in these travel choices, including Morocco.

It highlighted that the average cost of this flight insurance for Spanish travelers is around 110 euros.

The kingdom also emerged as a popular destination for Russian tourists, ranking as the top African country during last May’s holiday, according to a new study by MegaFon and reported by Russian news agency Interfax.

The study showcased that the influx of Russian tourists to Morocco witnessed a remarkable 60% annual increase during last month.
