Morocco’s Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, strongly condemned the recent “flag march” in occupied Jerusalem which involved Israeli settlers, officials, and Knesset members entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards.
Bourita denounced both the permission granted for the march, which he viewed as disregarding the status of occupied Jerusalem, and the restrictions placed on Palestinian worshippers accessing the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He further condemned the intrusion of Israeli officials into Al-Aqsa, considering it a provocation to worshippers.
Bourita emphasized Morocco’s rejection of such actions, especially amid ongoing tensions in Gaza. He urged the Israeli authorities to halt these provocations, stressing the need to stop actions that exacerbate tensions. Additionally, he called for ensuring the safety of those praying at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Morocco reiterated its longstanding position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The country advocates for an immediate ceasefire to end hostilities, unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians, and the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, coexisting peacefully with Israel.
