Mustapha Baitas, a government spokesperson, said in a press briefing today that the Moroccan government has reaffirmed its commitment to attracting investment in a bid to combat rising unemployment.
A cornerstone of this strategy is the recently revised Investment Charter, which, alongside the newly approved law for Regional Investment Centers, aims to create a more favorable business environment and stimulate investment across key sectors.
The government also seeks to broaden investment geographically, with initiatives specifically designed to support development in remote areas, Baitas said.
The national commission for investment recently approved 27 draft investment conventions, showcasing increased interest in Moroccan opportunities.
Additionally, a landmark agreement was signed with the Sino-European group GOTION High-Tech, paving the way for the construction of a giant electric battery factory in Kenitra, a project expected to create over 17,000 jobs.
This investment, representing the first gigafactory in the Middle East and Africa, signifies a major step for Moroccan industry, and aims to establish a comprehensive electric battery manufacturing ecosystem.
“Today, there are significant investments that will positively impact unemployment,” concluded Baitas, expressing optimism about the government’s strategy.
