Moroccan experts and researchers are calling for the acceleration of research to extract medical drugs from the cannabis plant.
During a training meeting organized by the Moroccan Advisory Association for Cannabis Uses for a group of journalists on Friday in Casablanca, researchers highlighted the need to integrate this plant into the medical system and make it available to patients through prescriptions.
Experts in the field emphasized the importance of regulating the cannabis plant and shifting its use towards medical purposes instead of merely extracting cosmetic products.
In this regard, Radouane Rabi, President of the Moroccan Advisory Association for Cannabis Uses, explained that a variety of drugs extracted from the cannabis plant have shown positive results in treatment and healing, necessitating the accelerated medical use of this plant.
He also emphasized the importance of scientific research in this field to produce drugs derived from this regulated substance.
Rabi affirmed that legalizing this plant, which is a local resource, could enhance the economy, especially as pharmaceutical laboratories seek to enter this market.
Some psychiatrists, on the other hand, expressed concerns about extracting substances like chocolate from this plant for use by children, as they believe it could lead to mental illnesses and reduced concentration.
They stressed the importance of protecting children from this product, urging strict measures to prevent them from becoming future consumers of the substance.
