A napkin that Lionel Messi used to sign his first contract with Barcelona has sold for nearly 1 million dollars, according to auction house Bonhams.
The napkin, sourced from Argentinian agent Horacio Gaggioli, was signed on December 14, 2000, amid tense negotiations to reassure Messi’s father, Jorge, who had threatened to return to Argentina.
The hastily written contract, sold for USD965,000, included signatures from Gaggioli, agent Josep Maria Minguella, and then-Barcelona sporting director Carles Rexach.
