Around 50 students from Casablanca’s Hamman Elfatouaki High School were taken to the emergency room on Thursday, after experiencing symptoms of asphyxiation.
The incident occurred a few days after 60 students from the same school experienced similar symptoms.
The cause of the incident remains unknown, but, family members continue to suspect a gas leak from a nearby factory, despite the company denying the use of gas in its facilities.
Hay Mohammadi district administrator Youssef Errkhis told Hespress correspondents that an investigative committee was formed to determine the cause of these incidents.
Errkhis noted that the committee ruled out the companies and factories near the school as the source of the presumed gas leak, adding that investigations are underway to determine the cause.
