Morocco’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection has filed an appeal against the Rabat Administrative Court’s ruling in favor of citizen Najat Touati concerning complications from AstraZeneca.
Najat Touati, a university professor who sued the Ministry of Health and Social Protection over issues with the AstraZeneca vaccine, hailed the ruling as fair, a victory for all, and a testament to a just judiciary.
In a statement to Hespress, Touati credited several factors for the favorable ruling: an expert doctor, legal team, familial and societal support, an honest judge, a society aware of their rights, and a conscientious ministry.
Reflecting on her ordeal since the pandemic’s onset and her subsequent complications post-vaccination, including Guillain-Barré Syndrome and permanent paralysis, Touati expressed the challenges she now faces daily, including speech impediments, mobility limitations, and ongoing depression.
Touati sees a higher purpose despite her struggles, remarking that perhaps her experience is meant to serve a greater mission in life.
The final court ruling mandates the Moroccan state to compensate Touati with 250,000.00 dirhams, cover related expenses, and dismiss other claims.
The government’s spokesperson reiterated that vaccines undergo rigorous scientific committee approvals before public use.
