A recent weather alert from the Directorate General of Meteorology warned that temperatures will rise significantly above their usual levels this week, in various parts of Morocco.
DGM spokesperson Hussein Youabed confirmed to Hespress Ar that the recorded temperatures “will exceed their seasonal average by 5 to 8 degrees, especially in the southern regions and some internal plains of the center of the country.”
The high temperatures, ranging from 40 to 44 degrees Celsius in some areas, will pose challenges for the local population, the same source noted.
The ongoing heat wave, which started on Tuesday, is forecasted to persist until Friday in areas like Assa Zag, Smara, Boujdour, Oued El Dahab, and Awsard.
Additionally, relatively hot weather is expected in the southern provinces, the southeast, and parts of the central interior plains.
