Two divers discovered on Monday a human head in the Bouregreg river, believed to belong to the assassinated husband of Moroccan artist Rym Fikri, after about two months of search operations.

According to one of the divers who spoke to the press, the victim’s head was found inside a plastic bag in an advanced stage of decomposition.

The diver explained that he managed to retrieve the head after feeling something unusual at the bottom of the river.

Upon extraction, it became clear that it was a human head with only bones remaining. He noted that the search is still ongoing to find the rest of the body.

According to reports, Reda Faras, the late husband of Moroccan artist Rym Fikri, was abducted, tortured, and gruesomely dismembered in Mansouria, Benslimane province.

The harrowing ordeal unfolded on Thursday, February 8th, when the 37-year-old victim was kidnapped around 10 p.m near his residence in Casablanca by assailants driving an off-road vehicle.

Following the abduction, six individuals, led by a French-Moroccan national known as “Turbo,” including the owner of a car wash, were apprehended in connection with the crime.

The suspects face allegations of kidnapping and torturing Faras, ultimately resulting in his tragic death.

The main suspect purportedly disposed of the victim’s remains by dismembering the body, placing the parts in plastic bags, and discarding them into a nearby stream.

Faras’ body was later discovered abandoned near a river close to Rabat on Thursday.

The motive behind the heinous act appears to stem from past disputes between the victim and the primary suspect, indicating a gRym settling of scores.

Reda Abakrym, dubbed ‘Turbo’, is the main suspect in Rym Fikri’s husband’s murder. He has been evading French authorities since 2007 for the murder of Brahim Hajaji.

In 2020, he was sentenced to 21 years in absentia, and was later on arrested in Morocco and acquitted of the 2007 murder.

Investigators consider him a major cannabis exporter from Morocco to France.
