As of April 3, 2024, the filling rate of Morocco’s dams stands at 31.79%, with a reservoir volume exceeding 5.124 billion cubic meters (m3), according to the daily report on the Kingdom’s dams issued by the Ministry of Equipment and Water.

This marks an increase from the 23.2% recorded at the end of January, attributed to substantial rainfall in various regions of the Kingdom during February and March. However, this rate remains lower compared to the same period in 2023, which stood at 34.53%, with a reservoir volume of 5.576 billion cubic meters.

Five dams have reached maximum capacity, with a filling rate of 100%. These include Nakhla, Chefchaouen, Charif Al Idrissi, Oued Za, and Bouhouda dams, each with a capacity not exceeding 300 million m3.

Several dams have exceeded a 50% filling rate, such as Tangier-Med (83%), Smir (90.2%), Moulay El Hassan Ben Al Mahdi (67.7%), Mechraa Hammadi (57.6%), Al Wahda (56.3%) and Sidi Driss (98.9%).

Among the large dams with capacities exceeding 500 million m3, Al Wahda stands at 56.3%, Oued El Makhazine at 92%, Idriss the First at 25.1% and Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah at 28%, while Al Massira (the 2nd largest in Morocco) is at 2% capacity, Ahmed El Hansali at 5.4% and Bin el Ouidane at 8.8%.
