Through a deal with Israel, Morocco joins the ranks of suicide drone manufacturers in North Africa and the Middle East, becoming the second country after Israel to produce these weapons.

Blue Bird Aerosystems, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries specializing in drone manufacturing, revealed that the first field test of this type of suicide drone (SpyX) was conducted and deemed successful.

According to the Israeli company, the test was successful, as the suicide drone targeted an armored vehicle (Ratel IFV 5) and managed to reach and collide with it, resulting in the complete explosion of the armored vehicle.

The Spy X drone is designed for reconnaissance and attack, with a wingspan of 50 centimeters, and can be deployed for up to an hour and a half.

Additionally, these drones possess target detection systems and both daylight and thermal sensors. With a remarkable speed of up to 250 Kilometers per hour during an attack, they can be carried and deployed by a crew of only two soldiers.

“El Español” newspaper stated in its Monday edition that the military cooperation agreement signed in 2021 between Morocco and Israel allows Rabat to host part of the production line for some drones.

The Spanish newspaper also revealed that Morocco has requested to purchase 150 drones of the “WanderB” and “ThunderB” types from Bluebird and two reconnaissance satellites of the ‘Ofeq-13’ model to enhance its intelligence and reconnaissance capabilities.

The Moroccan army has been equipped with these exceptional military capabilities, achieving a qualitative leap in drone technology, specifically suicide drones, which have become the backbone of modern armies.
