Morocco’s Insurance Regulatory Authority (ACAPS) has responded to reports of an alleged investigation authorities ordered regarding accusations made against its officials.
The Insurance and Social Reserve Control Authority highlighted in a statement that “inaccuracies and insinuations in these reports directly affect the reputation and prestige of the Insurance and Social Reserve Control Authority, a public institution with a legal personality and financial independence that the legislator has entrusted with monitoring the insurance and social reserve sector and rationalizing economic governance in our country.”
ACAPS stressed that “up to this moment, we have not received any summons from the Public Prosecution related to the subject of the published articles or anything else.”
“What was stated in the aforementioned articles fall under the heading of defaming a public institution and its employees without legal basis and without working to present the views of interested parties.”
The authority continued, saying: “We were not contacted by any means, knowing that we have always been open to the media and keen to interact with them.”
Hespress reported on the investigation based on a complaint of the National Authority for the Protection of Public Funds, and the notice of the Attorney General regarding the preliminary research, a copy of which is available to the media.
The notice from the Public Prosecutor at the Rabat Court of Appeal included information that “a preliminary investigation has been opened with the Public Prosecutor at the Agadir Court of Appeal within the framework of a judicial delegation regarding the complaint submitted on February 23, 2024 regarding the formation of a criminal gang by employees and officials of the Insurance Control and Social Reserve Authority in Rabat.”
