The coordinator of the joint bid from Spain, Portugal, and Morocco for the 2030 World Cup, Antonio Laranjo, confirmed that Portugal will not host the final of the tournament. The decision leaves Spain and Morocco as the potential hosts for the final match.
During a ceremony at Cidade do Fubol in Oeiras, near Lisbon, Laranjo explained that Portugal lacks a stadium with the required capacity of at least 80,000 seats and has decided against investing in expanding any of its stadiums. “Portugal does not have such a stadium and will not invest in increasing the capacity of stadiums, meaning that Portugal will not host the World Cup final,” Laranjo stated while presenting the bid’s vision, logo, and ambassadors.
This development narrows the race for the prestigious event’s final venue to Spain and Morocco, heightening anticipation about who will ultimately secure the honor of hosting the climax of the 2030 World Cup.
