The meeting enabled the two parties to “discuss the concrete realization of our rapprochement in all areas. Our parliaments have an essential role to play in the economy, youth, culture and the environment”, wrote Braun-Pivet on X.

The Moroccan Embassy stressed on the same social network that the meeting, described as “constructive”, focused on “the role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening relations between Morocco and France.”
According to the Africa Intelligence newsletter, the French Senate “will host a colloquium devoted to relations between France and Morocco” from April 22, when parliamentarians from both sides will meet at the Palais du Luxembourg, in a context of aligning views between Rabat and Paris.
Sitaïl also met with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the French National Assembly, Jean-Louis Bourlanges.

Yaël Braun-Pivet is a member of Renaissance, the party launched by President Emmanuel Macron, while Jean-Louis Bourlanges belongs to MODEM (Democratic Movement), which are the two political formations of the majority.
King Mohammed VI appointed Samira Sitaïl as Morocco’s new ambassador to France on October 29, a position that has remained vacant for several months against the backdrop of a major diplomatic crisis between Rabat and Paris.
