The plight of stranded Moroccans in Gaza intensified with the onset of Ramadan, as the evacuation process for the fifth batch remains stalled at the Rafah crossing into Egyptian territory.
Speaking to Hespress, Stranded individuals lamented a deepening crisis, particularly regarding food and drink, as the holy month began.
They revealed that lists containing Moroccan nationals’ names have not been disclosed for up to 50 days, leaving them in a state of perpetual uncertainty.
When contacted, a diplomatic source from the Kingdom’s embassy in Cairo acknowledged the lack of progress, citing “no developments” on the matter.
Many Moroccans face malnutrition, struggling to afford adequate food due to soaring prices and limited aid. Despite the worsening situation and the advent of Ramadan, they remain uninformed about the fate of the next evacuation batch, adding complexity to their lives.
Even before Ramadan, conditions were dire, making it highly challenging.
The previous batch of evacuees passed through Rafah in February, yet Moroccan authorities have failed to provide updates, leaving the stranded feeling abandoned.
