Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita emphasized Wednesday in Cairo that the Kingdom of Morocco’s commitment to support the Palestinian cause is firm, concrete and not subject to bidding and slogans.
“The Kingdom of Morocco, under the instructions of King Mohammed VI, emphasizes the urgent need for an urgent, comprehensive and lasting ceasefire, ensuring unimpeded and unrestricted access to humanitarian aid, rejecting attempts at forced displacement of civilians and respecting international law and international humanitarian law,” Bourita said in a speech during the opening of the 161st session of the Arab League Council at the level of foreign ministers.
In the context of solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people, the minister recalled that “Morocco took the initiative to send important quantities of urgent humanitarian aid, including food and medical supplies, which were delivered to the main hospital and social institutions concerned with the health and social emergencies resulting from the developments in the Gaza Strip by the Beit Mal Al-Quds Agency, the executive arm of the Al-Quds Committee.”

In parallel with this humanitarian action, the Council of the League of Arab States at delegate level remained in permanent session to follow the developments of the situation in the Gaza Strip.
The Kingdom of Morocco “called, under the instructions of King Mohammed VI and in coordination with our brothers in the State of Palestine, to hold an emergency meeting of the Council of the League at ministerial level on October 11, 2023, in which we stressed the need for a ceasefire, avoid targeting civilians, allow humanitarian aid and prevent attempts at forced displacement,” said the same government official.
“Anyone who thinks that security and stability in the Middle East will be achieved through military solutions or schemes to displace Palestinians is mistaken, as this will only perpetuate hostility, revenge and extremism and plunge the region into an endless spiral of chaos and violence,” he stressed, concluding that “peace, as King Mohammed VI, President of the Al Quds Committee, has emphasized on various occasions, will remain the strategic choice for the peoples of the region and the only way to ensure security and stability for all its peoples.”

On the other hand, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates called for the reorganization of partnerships between the League of Arab States, other regional blocs and major countries, according to an Arab strategic perspective that enables them to maximize the opportunities offered by these partnerships, while respecting the specificities of the Arab peoples and their national identities.
Reviewing the situation in a number of Arab countries that are still experiencing political crises, wars and conflicts, such as Yemen, Sudan and Syria, the Moroccan minister stressed that the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of the King, has great hope that the situation in these countries will be stabilized on the basis of dialogue and peaceful initiatives, away from the logic of force and military solutions.
