Agadir’s Court of Appeal has reduced the initial sentence of a seventy-year-old man convicted of sexual exploitation of underage schoolgirls in the Anzi area near Tiznit, from 8 months to 4 months.
The Agadir Court initially sentenced the defendant to eight months in prison and a fine of MAD5,000, after convicting him of charges including “incitement, encouragement, and facilitation of the exploitation of children under 18 in pornographic materials, possession of pornographic materials depicting children, sexual harassment of a minor, enticing a minor under 18 without violence, and indecent assault of a minor under 18 without violence.”
The case began when an investigation was launched by Anzi authorities after a complaint alleging that a 15-year-old schoolgirl was being blackmailed and threatened with compromising photos by an unknown individual.
The investigation led to the main suspect in the case, a seventy-year-old from the same area, who was identified for leaking the photos used for blackmail and threats against the victimized schoolgirl.
Further investigations revealed that the suspect was sexually exploiting the 15-year-old victim, in addition to five other schoolgirls.
