The National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) has called on road users to redouble their vigilance on the roads on the occasion of the second intermediate vacation, marked by heavy traffic on the various axes of the road network and coinciding with the orange-level weather alert issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology.
In a statement, the Agency urged road users to take all necessary precautions and measures, particularly in view of the difficult weather conditions forecast for certain regions of the kingdom.
Narsa called on drivers of different types of vehicles to respect the Highway Code and the requirements of road prevention and safety, including the need for mechanical maintenance and careful technical examination of safety devices whose proper functioning must be checked to avoid breakdowns and technical incidents that could cause road accidents, particularly tires, braking devices, shock absorbers, windshield wipers and others.
Drivers are also urged to allow themselves moments of rest in order to drive serenely, to reduce speed and adapt it to road conditions, while strictly observing the Highway Code, especially on bends, slopes and steep roads, and to avoid excessive speed, unsuited to difficult weather conditions.
NARSA also stresses the need to maintain a safe distance inside and outside the urban perimeter, especially on national roads and freeways, and to be vigilant when overtaking and driving at night.
The institution urges drivers to avoid slipping on wet roads, to avoid speeding and tailgating, to use suitable tires and to observe the rules for overtaking and stopping, while avoiding abrupt maneuvers.
