The first Forum on Peace and Security in Africa is taking place in Togo’s Lomé with the participation of representatives from African countries, including Morocco.
The Kingdom is represented at this Forum, which was opened on Saturday by Togolese Prime Minister Victoire Tomegah Sidémého Dogbé, by the Ambassador, Director General of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), Mohamed Methqal.
Also taking part in this event, initiated by Togo, are the Foreign Ministers of Mali, Chad, and Burkina Faso, the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security of the African Union, as well as the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel, Leonardo Santos Simão.
This two-day international event, featuring several panel discussions, aims to provide an African platform for the exchange and sharing of experiences on peace, security, and the future of the African continent.
The meeting also brings together representatives from African and non-African governments, high-level experts, actors from civil society organizations, the academic world, and international organizations.
“The present Forum aims to be an opportunity for informed exchanges and shared reflections on the necessary indigenous ownership of our collective democratic consolidation process. It is a conducive space for the emergence of bold and realistic proposals,” Dogbé declared at the opening of this forum.
The Lomé Forum takes place at a time when the world is facing immense governance challenges in peace and security that hinder serene prospects for harmonious development in countries, added Sidémého Dogbé.
