Four people died in villages near Ouarzazate province under the rubble caused by the earthquake that hit Morocco Friday night, sources from region told Hespress AR.
Two of the victims hailed from the Amerzgane commune, while the other two were from the Imghran commune.
Rescue operations in the region are ongoing . It is not yet clear if there are other casualties.
An earthquake of magnitude 7.0 on the Richter scale struck Morocco’s Al Haouz Province (center) on Friday evening, the National Institute of Geophysics reported.
The epicenter of the earthquake, which was at a depth of approximately 8 kilometers, was located at a latitude of 30,961 degrees north and a longitude of 8,413 degrees west, pointed out the Institute, which located the epicenter in the municipality of Ighil, in the province of Al Haouz.
