The National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco will host, on September 12-13, the 2023 Annual General Meeting of the International Standard Book Number (ISBN).
This meeting will provide an opportunity for exchange of information among national ISBN agencies and foreign delegates about their work and publishing.
The decision to hold this meeting in Morocco was announced at the end of the annual General Assembly of the ISBN, held on September 8-9, 2022, at the National Library of Norway in Oslo
This decision demonstrates “Morocco’s international reputation in terms of organizing such professional meetings, in addition to the agency’s confidence in the capacity of the National Library of the Kingdom to organize this important international meeting”, Director of the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco, Mohamed Al Ferrane, said.
The International ISBN Agency, based in London, England, coordinates and manages the identification and description of monograph publications worldwide, using International Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs).
The agency is the registration authority for the ISO 2108 standard that regulates ISBNs. It oversees 150 regional or national registration agencies that assign ISBNs to publishers in over 200 countries.
