Morocco’s Mohammed V International Airport has secured the fourth spot among the busiest airports in Africa for the year 2022.

According to the latest figures from the Airports Council International (ACI), the airport welcomed a total of 7,637,643 passengers during the year.

The airport’s strategic location in Casablanca has contributed to its significant passenger traffic. It serves as a key departure and arrival point for Moroccans traveling to and from Europe.

This ranking places Mohammed V International Airport closely behind other prominent aviation hubs like Cairo International Airport in Egypt, which earned the top position with an impressive 20,009,336 passengers.

South Africa’s O. R. Tambo International Airport secured the 2nd spot with 14,789,508 passengers, followed by Cape Town International Airport in 3rd place, serving 7,876,183 passengers.

While the number of passengers at Mohammed V International Airport closely matches that of Cape Town International Airport, its importance as a gateway to Morocco and a link for global travelers remains strong.

The airport’s role in facilitating both business and leisure travel has solidified its place in the African aviation landscape.

Morocco’s aviation industry is emerging as a driving force behind growth in the African continent, as highlighted by a recent Forbes report.

Airbus in Morocco has forecasted a notable 3.6% yearly increase in passenger demand, attributing this surge to the advantageous geographical location and favorable investment environment that Morocco offers.

The country’s policy of open skies, coupled with its diverse and culturally rich landscape, adds to its appeal for aviation-related ventures.

In line with these advancements, Morocco’s aviation exports soared, with figures surpassing MAD 20 billion in 2022, signifying a substantial upswing from previous years.
