The Chinese-Moroccan tourism connection was significantly bolstered in 2016 when King Mohammed VI’s visit to Beijing led to the exemption of Chinese tourists from visa requirements.

Bouchiba emphasized the strong desire among Chinese citizens to explore Morocco, buoyed by the visa exemption and the kingdom’s growing international acclaim, propelled by the nation’s impressive accomplishments, such as hosting the 2022 World Cup and the exceptional performance of its women’s soccer team in the Australian World Cup.

Since establishing diplomatic ties in 1958, Morocco has maintained a prominent position as one of the earliest African nations to engage with the People’s Republic of China. Strengthened by the strategic partnership formalized during King Mohammed VI’s visit to China in 2016, the bilateral relations between the two nations continue to flourish.
