Internet personality Lil Tay, who rose to fame in 2018 for her viral videos of herself rapping and flaunting her wealth, has reportedly died at the age of 14. Her brother, Jason Hope, also died at the same time.

A statement was shared on Lil Tay’s Instagram account on Wednesday announcing her death. The statement did not provide any details about the cause of death. “It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of our beloved Claire’s sudden and tragic passing,” the statement said. “We have no words to express the unbearable loss and indescribable pain. This outcome was entirely unexpected, and has left us all in shock.”

However, the Los Angeles Police Department and the county medical examiner have not confirmed any reports of the death of Claire Hope. The Vancouver Police Department, where Hope’s family is believed to live, has also said that it is not aware of any death reports for Hope or her brother.

Lil Tay, whose real name was Claire Hope, was born in Vancouver, Canada. She began posting videos on Instagram in 2018, when she was just 9 years old. Her videos quickly went viral, and she amassed millions of followers. Lil Tay’s videos were often sensationalized and controversial. She would rap about her lavish lifestyle.

Despite the controversy, Lil Tay remained a popular figure on social media. She collaborated with other rappers, such as Chief Keef and XXXTentacion, and she appeared on several television shows.
