A delegation of African diplomats, continuing their training at the Moroccan Academy of Diplomatic Studies (AMED), is on a three-day visit to Laâyoune to learn about the level of development in this city in the Kingdom’s southern provinces.
During a meeting with Abdeslam Bekrate, Wali of the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region and Governor of the province of Laâyoune, the members of the delegation, laureates of the international training cycle in diplomacy (class of 2023), learned about the responsibilities and competencies of organizations and institutions located in the Moroccan regions in general and in the southern provinces in particular.
On this occasion, Abdeslam Bekrate gave the diplomatic delegation an overview of the different stages that have marked the Kingdom’s history, from colonial times to the present day, underlining, in this context, the advances recorded by Morocco at all levels – social, economic, political, democratic, human rights…
The meeting also provided an opportunity to present the achievements and major development projects underway in the Kingdom’s southern provinces as part of the new development model launched by King Mohammed VI in 2015 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Green March.
The delegation of 12 diplomats comes from Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Guinea, Central African Republic, Comoros, Burkina Faso, Congo, Guinea-Bissau, Djibouti, Madagascar and Gabon.
