Casablanca residents demand action as pests plague the city

Cockroaches, rodents, and harmful insects have overrun most neighborhoods of Casablanca in recent times, causing great distress to the city’s residents.

The proliferation of these pests has angered citizens, who are increasingly frustrated with their pervasive presence in the streets and even inside their homes.

Environmental activist Mehdi Lamina highlighted the responsibility of the Casablanca municipality, specifically the local development company ‘Casablanca Baïa,’ for this situation, emphasizing the need for urgent action.

Civil society organizations hold ‘Casablanca Baïa’ accountable for the widespread infestation of rodents, cockroaches, and harmful insects, urging them to engage in campaigns to combat these pests.

Social media users have also called for tackling these insects and cockroaches at the beaches, which serve as a breeding ground and a source from where they spread to various neighborhoods.
