Mali’s U23 soccer team will face Morocco next Tuesday in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN U23), currently being held in the Kingdom.

The Atlas Lions now know their opponents, after the latter beat the Nigerian team by 2 goals to 0 on Saturday evening at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.

The goals on the third day of Group B at the CAN U23 were scored by Mamadou Sangaré (49th) minute from the penalty spot and Cheickna Doumbia (90th) minute.

With this victory, Mali are ranked second in Group B, with 6 points, behind Egypt, who have 7 points since their 2-0 win over Gabon.

Gabon and Niger, who ended the group with 0 and 4 points respectively, have been eliminated from the CAN U23. The other semi-final will be played between Egypt and Guinea.

The top three teams in the 2023 CAN U23 standings qualify directly for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The fourth-placed team will play an intercontinental play-off against an Asian team.
