French Montana credits his success to his mother’s devotion and commitment to raising him as a single parent in the US.
French Montana was motivated to improve himself by his mother’s selfless decision to raise her sons alone.
In the documentary “For Khadija,” he discusses how he became a popular music artist and the struggles his single immigrant mother faced while raising her three sons. “It was actually accomplishing the impossible. It was miraculous.” said Montana.
More than 20 years ago, Montana and his family emigrated from Morocco to the United States in search of a better life.
In times of hardship, his father returned to their home country but his mother thought Morocco offered fewer chances than the United States.
“French Montana believes he would not have developed into a popular figure who has earned three Grammy nominations if his father had never abandoned him as a teenager.” According to the AP.
Montana’s father anticipated that they would only stay in the country for a year or two before they too would go back to Morocco because his mother didn’t have any professional experience and couldn’t speak English. Instead, they spent a total of 25 years in America.
Montana’s mother’s unwavering faith enabled them to overcome several financial challenges as she worked numerous jobs and prayed every day.
The documentary, which was co-produced by Drake and Sean “Diddy” Combs, is about the struggle, the setbacks, and the sacrifices, according to Montana.
After reading a 2012 article about Montana visiting Morocco and meeting his father for the first time since the older man departed New York, director Mandon Lovett became interested in Montana’s tale.
Montana said that the documentary is a tale that honors his mum after viewing Lovett’s finished movie.
Several of Montana’s songs have achieved success, notably “Unforgettable” with Swae Lee.
The rapper, who was born in Morocco, was nominated for a Grammy for his songwriting work on Kanye West’s “All Day” and for his appearance on “All the Way Up” alongside Fat Joe, Remy Ma, and Infared.
As a Global Citizen rap ambassador, he has also been actively supporting healthcare activities in Uganda.
