The third edition of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, which runs from 29 June to 2 July in the city of Changsha (Hunan province, centre), provides an opportunity to highlight the Kingdom’s strategy in terms of tripartite partnerships for the development of the African continent.
This event is also an opportunity for the Moroccan delegation taking part in the exhibition to examine ways of developing joint cooperation both with China and African partners, in order to support Africa’s economic development at all levels.
The Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, who is leading the Moroccan delegation at this event, told MAP that China is at the heart of the strategy of tripartite partnerships implemented by Morocco in favour of the development of the African continent, in line with the Royal Vision aimed at diversifying partnerships and strengthening the continent’s economic and industrial system.
As a leader in numerous fields on the African continent, particularly in the automotive industry and renewable energies, Morocco sets an example for Africa to follow, so that it can believe in its capabilities and position itself as a key player on the international stage, he added.
The theme of this exhibition reflects Morocco’s focus on joint development in line with the wise policy of His Majesty King Mohammed VI towards Africa, he pointed out, noting that Morocco, being the second largest African investor in the continent, is actively involved in Africa’s development through numerous projects, with Moroccan companies investing massively in several sectors.
China’s economic power within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative is reflected in projects that converge with the Moroccan policy towards the African continent, which consists of cooperation aimed at strengthening African capacities and accelerating their development through the creation of employment opportunities to improve populations’ social conditions, the minister said.
Chinese companies are particularly interested in the Moroccan industrial sector, especially automotive and battery industries, he noted, adding that this interest will be implemented through major investment projects currently underway, which should contribute to the development of the automotive sector so that it can meet new challenges, especially those regarding electric vehicles and battery industry.
Morocco serves as a model to follow thanks to the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, he said, stressing that this vision has enabled the Kingdom to establish competitive, high-quality industries that are exported worldwide.
The Royal vision guides the government and the private sector so that Moroccan industry establishes win-win partnerships with other countries in the continent and consolidates the added value of Morocco’s partners on the continent, within the framework of integration projects between countries’ economic systems aimed at enhancing employment opportunities in the Kingdom as well as in African countries, he said.
The vision of His Majesty the King in terms of South-South cooperation is yielding important results in all areas, he concluded, affirming that the conditions are favourable for investors to benefit from the Kingdom attractiveness as a reliable destination and gateway to Africa, a position bolstered by the security and stability enjoyed by the Kingdom through its infrastructure that complies with international standards.
Morocco is taking part in this exhibition with a digital stand highlighting the Kingdom’s African leadership in the economic, commercial and environmental fields, with particular emphasis on the automotive, renewable energies, pharmaceuticals and textiles sectors.
The stand also highlights the Kingdom’s efforts to combat climate change and eliminate carbon emissions.
It puts forward Morocco’s position as a key player linking Africa to the world, thanks to the Kingdom’s concrete achievements in terms of infrastructure, its investment in high value-added sectors, its stability consolidating its status as a reliable destination for investment, as well as its political and economic choices which have made the Kingdom a leader among African countries promoting development within the continent.
The Moroccan participation also aims to highlight the Kingdom’s position as a first-class industrial and export platform, with a view to accelerating foreign investments.
In addition, this participation aims to showcase Morocco’s successful experience in economic transformation, which has made the Kingdom a reliable destination with strong investment and export potential.
In this respect, the Moroccan stand showcases the Kingdom’s attractiveness promoted under “Morocco Now” brand, in order to establish a competitive platform capable of improving business climate, particularly in light of the reforms carried out by the Kingdom in accordance with the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI aiming to consolidate Morocco’s leadership among emerging countries.
Organised annually, the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo’s ambition is to establish a new mechanism for economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa, and to serve as a new platform for economic and trade initiatives between the two parties.
