National football team coach Walid Regragui has proudly declared that he possesses three exceptional forwards, including the highly-anticipated return of Tarik Tissoudali from injury, while speaking to reporters at the Mohammed VI Complex in Salé during a press conference on Saturday.

Regragui acknowledged the absence of left-back Adam Massina in the upcoming game against Cape Verde.

“We will miss Adam Massina due to injury, but we are fully prepared to face Cape Verde.” He emphasized the significance of not underestimating any team in modern football, affirming, “There are no small teams.”

Recalling his experience in African football, particularly the last match against Cape Verde during his time as an assistant coach under Rachid Taoussi, Regragui stressed that his team failed to defeat them.

He attributed Cape Verde’s strength to the presence of talented players competing in top leagues such as Spain and France, cautioning against the assumption of an easy victory. He emphasized the importance of respect, stating, “If we make the mistake of not respecting them, we will be surprised. We will adhere to our game plan and maintain our mindset. By respecting our opponents and sticking to our strategy, we will continue to achieve positive results.”

Regarding the omission of Sofiane Rahimi, who has been performing exceptionally well in the United Arab Emirates, and Ryan Mmae, Regragui clarified, “I am not disregarding anyone, but I have other players at my disposal, and the final decision rests with me. Furthermore, there may be other names that emerge. The national team selection follows specific criteria, and it is not based on the clubs Raja or Wydad.”

In addition, Regragui expressed his ambition for the team, boldly stating, “We are the favorites to win the Africa Cup.” He further explained that his current focus is on preparing the national team for success in the Africa Cup final. Recognizing the contrasting atmospheres between the World Cup and African competitions, he highlighted the unique challenges and differences the team will face in the tournament.

As the national team gears up for their upcoming matches, Regragui’s strategic choices and confidence in the squad reflect his determination to achieve glory in the Africa Cup.
