Morocco recently passed a new law requiring airlines operating on national territory to abide by guidelines intended to protect the rights of people with impairments or limited mobility.
The law was enacted in Decree No. 2.22.800, which establishes several guidelines that must be adhered to when people with disabilities or those with limited mobility, access air and commercial transport services for travelers from an airport on the national territory.
The decree states that individuals with disabilities or limited mobility are entitled to special assistance that ensures their access to a variety of services that are typically offered to the public, so long as this support is given in a way that ensures their dignity is respected.
Air carriers cannot refuse a reservation for a flight departing from a Moroccan airport to travel to or transit from due to disability or reduced mobility.
The decree called for the training of all airport and airline staff who encounter travelers directly to comply with all these new regulations by making them aware of their unique needs.
